Zum Zweck der Interessenvertretung finden Treffen mit Vertreterinnen und Vertretern der Bundesregierung, Mitgliedern des Deutschen Bundestages und der Bundestagsfraktionen sowie relevanten Fachgremien und Institutionen statt, um über die deutschen und europäischen CO2-Reduktionsziele im Straßenverkehr und insbesondere die Umsetzbarkeit CO2-neutraler Kraftstoffe durch die von der Gruppe entwickelten Monitoring-Methoden zu diskutieren. Themenschwerpunkte der Interessenvertretung sind insbesondere die Klimapolitik und CO2-Regulierung - insbesondere im Hinblick auf die Umsetzung der EU-Klimaziele 2050 und die Überarbeitung der CO2-Flottenziele für Pkw und leichte Nutzfahrzeuge sowie Lkw, das Typgenehmigungsrecht von Straßenfahrzeugen sowie die übergeordnete Straßenverkehrs- und Innovationspolitik. Das Protokoll dazu: Mr Alain Mathuren started the meeting by introducing the WGMM’s work of 2025, focusing on the working programme for the year. Each SG Chair and/or Co-Chair then had the opportunity to report the outcome, consolidated in the 2024 Report. The General Assembly presentation was displayed during the meeting. The BMDB asked whom of the Commission the participants had contacted; they responded that support in reaching out to relevant stakeholders was appreciated. The Ministry representatives also inquired whether the WGMM would agree with an eFuel-focus only, to which they replied that all CO2 neutral fuels (CNFs) should be considered. The Ministry expressed doubts over a broader definition and use of monitoring methodologies for CNFs, by, for example, staying critical to acceptance of mass balancing within current regulation. In terms of timeline BMDV is not expecting a relevant move from the Commission before May 2025 due to outstanding Euro 7 implementations.
