NRC setzt sich weltweit für Geflüchtete ein, und ist zurzeit (2023) in 35 Ländern tätig. NRC bietet Geflüchteten Schutz, Lebensmittelversorgung, sauberes Wasser, Unterkunft und juristische Unterstützung. Der deutsche Zweig vertritt NRC gegenüber den deutschen institutionellen Gebern wie dem AA, der KfW, der GIZ und dem BMZ. Außerdem betreibt NRC Flüchtlingshilfe privates Fundraising in Deutschland.\r\n\r\nIn enger Zusammenarbeit mit der Policyabteilung von NRC (in Genf) bietet NRC Flüchtlingshilfe Unterstützung bei humanitären Policyfragen und informiert die Öffentlichkeit und deutsche Behörden über die Situation von Flüchtlingen weltweit und besonders in den Ländern, wo NRC tätig ist. NRC setzt sich stets für humanitäres Recht und das Recht der Geflüchteten ein, und die Arbeit von NRC beruht immer auf IHL (Internationalem Humanitärem Recht). \r\n\r\nGegenüber dem AA erstattet NRC Bericht über seine Tätigkeit, sowie über die humanitäre Situation in den betroffenen Ländern. Auch informiert NRC die deutschen institutionellen Geber über humanitären Recht, humanitäre Finanzierung und andere humanitäre Policyfragen.
